The sudden movement of refugees has changed a lot in the society in Austria and in Europe. While countries such as Hungary closed their borders, other countries like Austria, Germany and Sweden, decided to take the refugees, mainly from Syria, and established a culture of openness and humanity in the spirit of the European idea and the Convention on Human Rights.Meanwhile one has moved away from the open borders and right now Europe builds a Fortress. Austria always belonged to the countries with the strictest asylum legislation in Europe and now they have also set limits on refugees. Simultaneously there is a social "rightward shift" in a many european countries. With this youth exchange we want to prove and show that European youth is against this propaganda and represents an open Europe of Human Rights. The youth shows and understands, not only during the youth exchange, but also afterwards in their home countries and organisations. The young people learn to understand what the reason for flight and asylum is and why these people are willing to take the risks to leave everything behind. The dissemination of facts contrary to common prejudices and respect for human dignity and rights is very important. Education plays an essential role in this case. We want to give the participating youngsters those things on their way to act and decide humanely. For this we want to work on the backgrounds of flight in workshops and other planned activities, we want to explain, teach and we want to invite people who can report what it means to flee, if possible. Using various exercises and methods, tolerance, acceptance, appreciation, conflict resolution, cohesion and solidarity is shown, practiced and mediated. The young people will be able to draw their own conclusions of what it means to flee and what should be an adequate response to a host society. These skills are developed through various methods, which combine head, intellect and emotion. Varied exercises in groups or alone, in nature and so on... should allow this combination. Presentations on cultural evenings require active involvement and participation, as well as project management and organization and supports self-esteem. Iinternational networks and friendships will be created within this project. But above all, the awareness for a fair society for all people and for a life in peace, no matter what country, should be strengthened .This youth exchange is a also continuation of the submitted seminar "On the road", where youth workers are to deal with exactly this topic.
