The present EVS project "Con-te-stò!" (I stay with you) involves 2 european volunteers who will do their service in Italy, precisely in a rest home for elderly people in Forlì (Emilia Romagna), for a period of 12 months. The applicant, Consorzio Solidarietà Sociale, will coordinate the joint work of the hosting partner (1) and sending organizations (2) from France and Portugal ensuring their active participation in the preparation, implementation and evaluation of the activities. The main theme of the project is “Intergenerational and intercultural education” as the volunteers will be able to establish relationships with elderly people and share with them their enthusiasm and their cultural background. With the aim to develop new competencies, the volunteers will help in regular activities but also propose innovative ones, with a particoular attention in the development of relationships (to stay with). In return for their active participation, the young people will have the opportunity to get to know the Italian culture but above all to acquire new personal and professional skills. The methods applied – as in all of EVS projects - will be those of an active participation of promoters and volunteers in the different stages of the project, especially in the design of the activities and identification of specific tasks which will be adjusted – as much as possible – to the interests and skills of the young people involved in order to ensure an effective learning process.
