Comp Int!

Reason: European SME’s find themselves in a fast changing globalizing and highly competitive world.  Specific competencies are required to internationalize successfully. A need underlined by the EC policy for New Skills for New Jobs, where particular attention is given to globalisation + international trade with BRIC countries. Next to financial and production requirements, knowledge (markets, business partners, legal ) and competencies (interpersonal relations and negotiations, cultural awareness, languages,… ) are needed to make internationalization successful. These competencies are often ignored, certainly within an SME characterised by an attitude of trial and error.  National public policy makers and private membership organisations approaches, though often comparable on providing information, guidance, business contacts to support SME’s, are strongly influenced by cultural, geographical and historical preconditions of the organising EU country. They tend to rely on unilateral providing information by the organisations to the SME’s and lack interactivity. Similarly, vocational training institutes and college universities have developed their own interactive competencies measurement tool.Aims, objectives and outcomes: Determination of critical factors of SME internationalisation Best Practices.  Benchmark of the competencies (outcome 1) within an SME necessary for internationalization Reflection of these competencies via existing vocational training experts + internationally active companies Development & in-company testing of an interactive gaming tool assessing + guiding internationalization competencies (outcome 2)  Feedback of the results towards the participating organisations & related governments (outcome 3). use of the tools by partners and stakeholders in their programmes involving companies (outcome 4). End symposium (outcome 5)Consortium:  public & private law organisations that have developed Best Practices on internationalisation,  vocational training institutes and university colleges + CCI, that gained experience on mapping and guiding internationalisation companies  organisations and companies with entrepreneurial game development experience. internationalising small, mediumsized and large companies Impactshort term impact: all involved partners improve internationalisation efforts by companies by applying tool in regular VET activities or adapting their services/trainings to the outcomes of the projectlong term impact: all partners + their stakeholders improve internationalisation by raising awareness, using and adapting the tool in their network of national VET
