Common Mediterranean strategy and local practical Actions for the mitigation of Port, Industries and Cities Emissions

APICE proposes a decision-making approach & related set of mitigation measures that assume the impact of air pollution sources as driver for the coast management in port-cities. This model is based on a stronger coordination of environmental and spatial planning policies, leading to curb emissions and preserving economic potentialities of port-cities. Results will be owned by some of the main MED port-cities to move towards the attainments of the key objectives of EU Integrated Maritime Policy Achievements: State of the art of project implementation since the project startTechnical Secretariat was appointed and 6 QMB meetings held the Starting Report and 5 Progress Reports were submitted a budget change request was submitted. 6 Technical/Scientific Meeting and Steering Committee were held. Port Authority of Genoa and Barcelona joined the partnership as observer. All components were completed and results presented. All results are available in the project web site, specifically the Local Adaptation Plans (one per each study area) and the Common Transnational Strategy. The final conference of the project was held in Venice on 8th November 2012. Communication Plan as finalized and 13 project newsletters (10 local and 3 international) delivered.Latest project activities and outputsDuring this last period, the partnership was concentrated in finalizing the last deliverables (the 5 Local Adaptation Plans & the Common Transnational Strategy) and in writing the final publications. Partners met for the last time in November 2012 in Venice: on 7th the last Steering Committee and on 8th the project final conference. On 23th January 2013, the 6th Quality Management Board was held in Venice in order to define last details about the local final report and the strategy on overall project results dissemination. Main outputs of the period are: the 5 Local Adaptation plans, the Common Transnational Strategy and the international publication Reducing pollutant emissions in the Mediterranean port cities . Moreover the report Common Transnational Strategy to curb emissions: APICE for the Mediterranean is available in the Internet site. 13 newsletters were published: 3 international, 1 for Marseille, 2 for Venice, Genoa and Barcelona and 3 for Thessaloniki.Next key steps for the projectThe project ended on February, 28th, 2013 but each partner is going to carry out further dissemination activities of achieved results both in their own study area and at transnational level, during their next institutional activities and related conferences and seminars.
