PROJECT
FINISHED
The project works on the topics: Prevention of Antisemitism, Holocaust Education and social participation of youngsters. This will be done throughout a strategical partnership between Germany and Turkey. The relevance of these topics in the european context will be discussed as well. A special focus will be paid to the handling of Antisemitism and the Holocaust with regard to to the shaping of european identity and political culture of the heterogenous society.
Concerning both topics the levels of experience and discussion vary in the memberstates of the European Union.
Yet in Turkey the pedagogic discussion of Antisemitism and the Holocaust is in uncharted waters. Societal reactions to this phenomena are barely known. From this follows a need of concepts and competences for the actors in the field of youth as well as a general raising of awareness in the civil society. Exchange projects in this field of historical and political education are missing. Since its role as a candidate country for European Union and the current political developments it is even more urgent to overcome this lack.
In Germany exists a need of concepts for the sustainable youth partizipation or socio-political partizipation of youth such as through peer-to-peer education. Of special interest is an exchange with Turkey in the field of critical remembrance culture in the heterogene societies.
Shaped as a expert exchange this project will establish a stable strategical partnership between both countries. Within the framework the participating experts will exchange their experiences and knowledge. Based on the special qualifications of the participants the up to now existing pedagogical methods and concepts will be discussed critically and new innovative approaches will be developed. Eight experts from Turkey and eight experts from Germany will take part in this exchange. All of them are working in the field of youth work.
The project subsumes two study visits, one in Turkey and one in Germany. These visits serve the introduction of concepts and methods in the field of youth education with the thematical focus on prevention of antisemitism and Holocaust education and a critical debate on these. Subsequent to the travellings the group communication will be secured by a digital platform.
Concerning the project's participants we expect a development and a constitution of competences. This means as well the fact and content level as well as the methodical didactical level. With this expansion of know-how and the related international and especially european persepectives, the cooperating partners will be familiar with the crucial core competences of Holocaust Education and prevention of antisemitism. Moreover, they can use this in their professionel life.
Additionally, a stable network between the participants is established which serves the exchange of information. With regards to contents and methods the participants acquire a multifocal-perspective on the approaches and topics of the project. The participants introduce their experiences of the project to their network. On the international level, we tend to develop an expert exchange shaped as a strategical partnership.
