Racism and xenophobia are the residues of a "past that will not pass," archaisms which survive the disappearance of the conditions that generated them. Cataclysms of the twentieth century did not vaccinate us against the temptation to stigmatize, used to exclude and sometimes the pleasure of hating diversity. From this point of view, contemporary xenophobia is deeply linked to the history of racism, substrate of a modernity that changes its morphology but not its function. Historicizing racist factory otherness is needed to understand how it continues today. Too often racism is regarded as a kind of pathology rather than a standard of modernity.This project involved 40 young participants in order to promote mutual understanding and solidarity through the kitchen. We want, from food, reflect the cultural diversity and European citizenship.Participants will cook together for 07 days, they will exchange their own traditional recipes and share best practices on intercultural management and ways to fight against racism.Cooking together and through discussion in workshops, it will be possible to think of European citizenship and go intercultural barriers. We also believe that the kitchen themes could be a common space in which to share experiences, feelings and traditions, and why not, a good skill to find a job in the future.All activities will be implemented through non-formal education methods. The working methods will be totally non-formal, or rather learning by doing.This way of working with participants stimulate another important thing: nonverbal communication also able to pass the language barrier.This project requires an exchange of knowledge and culinary habits of young people, who want to cook together for several days. "Self-made" - the willingness to discuss and exchange.At the end of the exchange the young participants will prepare a dinner for local people who will enjoy this experience.This project will test movies online to enable others to benefit from this experience. We take the opportunity to create a discussion forum culinary exchange.This project will take place in Cognac 19 to 25 September 2016 with 05 partner associations.
