Our Erasmus+ program was held for 30 participants among youth workers and leaders aged between 18-25, who participated the youth program before and accomplished international and/or nationwide youth projects.
The activity was a youth program that will be held with 30 participants from Romania, Hungary, Spain and Italy, for 8 days from May 2nd to May 9th (2015), including arrivals and departures.
The aim of the project was to create an oppurtunity for young people to be creative by learning and showing mutual love and respect, cultural learnings, and creating mutual undertstandings. We also aim to create awareness among the roman community of Susurluk on EU matters like EU citizenship and the culture of being European. Participants are expected to broaden their self confidence by expanding their knowledge and improving abilities and skills.
In the process of creating of this project, we broadened and collected our knowledge on such matters like roman community, avoiding discrimination and youth unemployement. We wanted to help to roman community and contribute to the world to involve youth in social issues by informing them and exchanging ideas with them on the problems of roman society.
We used common education techniques in the project. Mostly, Role plays, art crafting, working in small groups, drama, ice breakers, interactive sessions, open air activities and such was held. Trips to roman neighborhoods and workshops giving by roma people on roman music was arranged.
By this project, there occured solidarity and better understandings among the participants and the locals who also took great part at this project. One of the major benefits of the project for participants was the encouragement of working together. young people found a great oppurtunity to get to know other cultures and even break their prejudgment about others if they have so. They gained rich perspectives on cultures.
Thanks to the activities that are prepared by common organizations and organizations which shares the final reports of the project, changing perspectives big probably towards to Roma people in Europe, spreading activities as to Roma people, decarceration of Roma people and helping Roma people to have an active role in business life was ensured.
