PROJECT
FINISHED
This project should form part of lifelong learning of our teachers. The reasons for setting it up were needs to provide our students with teaching of high quality. The curriculum of our grammar school specializes in scientific branch with the emphasis on teaching foreign languages (English, French, German) at the highest level.
The aim is to improve teachers‘ qualifications, the quality of teaching and to increase European dimension in the work of our organization. The main impact of this project should be on personal and professional development of language teachers and teachers of Science and IT, their awareness of new methods, teaching approaches and new materials, upgrating of their knowledge of other cultures and educational systems. We would like to get to know more especially about the teaching approach CLIL.
The selection of the participants in this project was influenced by the aim to enhance interdisciplinary relations of foreign languages, Science and IT. Hence, teachers of foreign languages, Science, IT and heads of our school are involved in this project.
At the present time the preparatory activities are being undertaken (selection of the most suitable courses, linguistic preparation of Science teachers, gathering materials presenting our school etc.).
Within the next two years the selected teachers are going to participate in methodology and language training events organized in four different European countries (Germany, France, Great Britain and Ireland). This will be followed by follow-up activities- evaluation and dissemination of new knowledge and experience gained thanks to the training activities (detailed description of project activities on the website of our grammar school, we are planning to publish articles about our project in local press, organize a public exhibition and increase the awareness of Erasmus plus activities among the headteachers of other schools in South Moravian Region). Thus, the main methodological stages of our project will be 1. preparatory activities, 2. training events, 3.dissemination.
After having carried out all acivities we would like to increase the cooperation between foreign languages and Science education and even integrate the languages into scientific teaching programme.
The longlasting impact is supposed to be on scientific achievements and better motivation of our students in the scientific subjects, but also on enhancement of their career prospects thanks to better knowledge of foreign languages ( successful passing of international certificates in English, French, German). Teachers should gain new professional contacts, establish partnerships with schools represented at the training events, which will lead to organizing similar projects in the future.
