Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: Oct 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Cirkus in Beweging organises the 4 th time an international youth exchange in Leuven from 5th till 13th August 2016.60 youngsters from Belgium, Estonia, Finland, Italy and Spain wil come togehter in Leuven, Belgium and use Circus, Percussion and Urban arts (CPU) as a communicative tool. How can youngsters express themselves, artistically, emotionally and personally trough CPU? How can we understand each other through CPU? What are similarities and what are differences in how we are experiencing CPU. The participants and local audience will be challenged by the skills, messages, emotions or stories that are communicated trough the performances which the youngsters will present during their exchange. On the local level we are working with 15 local refugee- youngsters who will be invited to participate in different CPU workshops, which are hosted and organized by the participants of the youth exchange. For these workshops we are implementing a methodology created by a Social Studies student in 2015. This methodology aims to learn new circus skills together with a new language. The yougsters will be challenged to work togehter, learn from each other and show themselves to each other and the local community. This project focusses mainly on creative and cultural developement, the learning and teaching of new languages and intercultural learning. The participants will learn in a non formal learning context... CirkOOH! CirkAAH! 3.0 aims at the development and improvement of personal skills (like self-confidence and building of own identityetc.), social skills (like team-building, conflict-management and cooperation) and intercultural competence (like tolerance, empathy, communication skills). The youngsters can use these skills in their daily and work-life because soft-skills and interculturalcompetence are useful at the labour market. The activities (workshops, shows and free time program) support European values likedemocracy and respect for other cultures. The young people have the opportunity to test and develop new forms of creative motion, express theselves with new urban art forms. This international youth exchange supports creativity and opens space for new ideas. Further they can improve their circus skills and learn from each other. The partnerships with the international partners will be improved and will open doors for more following projects.
