The lack of experienced practitioners having proper competence of applying the international internal audit standards for European specific requirements in European funding structures is the target problem of the project. Formal and sectoral education has been concentrating on general accounting and financial audit policies or on high level certification requirements of internal audit, which are less applicable for the real-life obligatory practitioners like project or programme managers using public money. This project supports the provision of training activities for internal audit, the fast tracking of key staff in their efforts to achieve professional qualifications and effective networking with colleagues in the EU member states and accessing countries. The target groups are therefore the managers concerned with internal audit activities in both public and private sectors and with the dealing of public money; the target end users are the managers who must deal with internal control procedures (for example, financial reporting or corporate governance); the target potential users are graduated students and / or internal audit practitioners who want to develop their qualifications applicable for public or private organisations using public money. The partners aim at 1) creating a European skill card of a Certified European Internal Audit Manager, which offers the opportunity of a connection with an online system for performing self assessment, collecting evidences, receive a formal assessment of the evidence; 2) developing specific training courses; 3) configuring the accreditation system for online services based on the combination of international standards and the European best practices in the public and the private sectors.
