According to the European Commission and Council of Europe research the youngsters from rural areas or from geographical isolated areas are facing very often lack of opportunities to spend free time/ to develop themselves or to obtain a working place. At the same time the involvement of the youngsters from rural areas in the life of the community and in the decision making process in the rural areas it’s very low.Active citizens, volunteers in my village it’s a youth exchange which will take place in 20-30 June 2016 in Romania at Marabu Camp in Berliste, village Milcoveni. To this exchange will take part 40 youngsters and 5 group leaders from Romania, Hungary, Italy, Bulgaria and Slovakia. The youngsters will be selected from 5 villages: Berliste from Romania, Dorkovo from Bulgaria, Halmajugra from Hungary, Terranova da Sibari from Italy and Chotca from SlovakiaThis youth exchange will the purpose to make the youngsters from rural areas to understand how important is their involvement in civic and volunteering activities aimed to contribute to the sustainable development of their local community. The objectives of the project: 1. To increase the motivation level of 40 youngsters from 5 countries to be involved in civic and volunteering activities. 2. To increase the level of knowledge of 40 participants about voluntary work and how volunteering activities can contribute to the development of their local community 3. To increase the level of knowledge of 40 youngsters about what mean civic involvement and the decision making process at local level and about how they can contribute to the development of the local community trough involvement. 4. To increase the level of knowledge of 40 youngsters about the customs, traditions, food and stories from the five rural communities involved in this project.5. To develop the initiative sense of the 40 youngsters involved in this project 6. To increase the level of knowledge of 40 youngsters about storytelling and how you can activate the community using stories 7. To promote volunteering in the five rural communities from the partner’s countries involved in this project The activities of this exchange will be based on practice and will use nonfomal education methods, with a main focus on learning by doing. During the 11 days we will have sessions about volunteering, civic involvement, we will organize an cleaning activity in Berliste together with the volunteers from the village, we will organize a debate with the public authorities from Berliste, we will discover the local traditions from the five villages, we will cook, we will learn more about the five countries involved in this project and we will involve the youngsters and the adults from the village in our activities. After this exchange it’s ended each national group will organize a campaign to promote volunteering and involvement back home together with the other youngsters from their villages. As a result of this project 40 youngsters will be more active and more involved in civic and volunteering activities, will know how to mobilize their local communities and will become more tolerant towards youngsters from other countries. At the same time this project will increase the number of youngsters from rural areas which will benefit from Erasmus plus and the number of organizations which organize activities with youngsters from rural areas.
