Context of the project: Reducing Early School Leaving is one of the priorities of the Europe 2020 Strategic Framework for Education and Training, and also for Erasmus + Programme. The course will introduce participants to The Eight methods of fighting early school leaving. Innovative teaching and learning methods for reducing early school leaving in a lifelong learning society. The policies to reduce ESL should focus on prevention, intervention and compensation. Methodologies and techniques used during the training programme include the following: -Examples of real life situations method of teaching for a better classroom behavior -Motivating students to finalize their compulsory education -Seminars & lectures on how stress affect our emotional well-being. -Strategies to use on an every day basis Objectives of your project: - Solve and reduce stress levels and develop the necessary abilities to manage emotions. - Create strategies on how to deal with and eliminate violent or aggressive behavior. - Understand the causes of physical issues within the teaching profession. - Improve interpersonal relationships within the education environment. - Identify limiting and negative beliefs and transform them into positive and supporting ones - Learn a variety of tools and resources to apply in the classroom to create well-being - Reduce early school leaving from 14 % to 10% on European level, unfortunately on national level the rate of early school leaving (up to date) is of a 22%, therefore the work done is more -Maintain and share the knowledge of practical strategies acquired during the 5 day training programme Number and profile of participants: (4 participants) Ms. Abigail Scerri (26 years of age) Teacher of Spanish Ms. Amy Cutajar (26 years of age) Teacher of Mathematics Ms. Maria Micallef Cannataci (29 years of age) Teacher of Art & Italian Ms. Mary Azzopardi (54 years) Learning Support Assistant Description of Undertaken Activities Presentation of Quarter Mediation activities and projects, participants breaking the Ice and European Fair. Presentation of the dutch educational system and comparison wth the educational system of the participating countries. ICO : how music, art, drama and sport are used in education. Good practices example (presented by Ms. Karin Warris- rep of the department of monitoring students' behavior from the Municipality of Assen). Mind-Mapping in groups about MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCE (eventually this task was also carried out during a Professional Development Session at GEM 16+) An interdisciplinary activity including listening to music and painting simultaneously (eventually this was included during exam week with students in Malta) Windmill practical real life technique, hands on activity which can be eventually implemented with our students. Visit and presentations in the University of Applied Sciences, Assen (creative teaching programmes related to motivation and study results by Mrs. Eti de Vries. Visit and practical workshops at 'De Drentse Archief' Teaching and Learning styles: indoor and outdoor activities and using real assignments in real life situations (e.g. project Sigismund Koloniengame, Old School Time). MBO (Attention and Monitoring Hans Hurenkamp coordination Drenthe College) monitoring students studying vocational courses (VET) such as Nursing, Security Guards etc; Visit De Nieuwe Kolk- Bibliotek Assen guided by the director of the public library in Assen. A presentation during this visit included a project for motivating school children to learn and to have better school results, along with enhancing their literacy and love for reading. This was a practical session where students can scan the 'Q' code with a tablet and be able to access a video review about the book done by other students like themselves. Presentation: The Eight Solutions for fighting early school leaving- done by the Director of Studies Cristina Stefan & Tim Stefan, including a debate. Photo reportage of every participating country. Evaluation session Results and Impact Attained (Long Term Benefits) This experience gave us a true insight of how to use innovative tools and techniques during preparation time. Being a group of teachers working everyday in this environment, where several students feel a failure, we try our best as a team of teaching staff, to build a more positive attitude for our students. However sometimes we feel that it is not enough, therefore through the participation in this training programme, we learnt innovative methodologies which ought to be, and were included in our everyday teaching.
