CARE for our climate

Eight European schools from France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania and Spain were involved in the project "CARE" which was considered to focus on the education for sustainable environmental development and which carried out the following main aims:• to research in the causes of climate change and the scientific predictions for the future• to make students and teachers aware of living conditions related to the climate change, like global warming, and other global and local environmental problems encouraging them to modify their everyday habits of consumption and attitude at school and at home (Ecological Footprint)• to discuss energy consumption and renewable energies (current topic Fukushima)• to reflect on the future of the world and to construct models (world 2050)The project included a large number of students, aged between 14 and 19. Project activities were integrated into the school curriculum. They were carried out by all students involved in the project in each school with the dissemination of results among the rest of classes. On CARE-Day the whole school community was engaged with several projects.The project not only awakened students to environmental issues, but also developed multilingual learning and encouraged mutual understanding between the different partners in the respect of cultural diversity, a very important pillar of sustainable development.
