PROJECT
FINISHED
Essaouira (Morocco) and La Rochelle (France) are two coastal cities of roughly the same size which are sharing a common history. The project, which is bringing young people from these two places closer together is aiming at open their eyes about the world, different cultures and ways of living.
During a 15 days journey in Morocco, 20 young French and Morrocan will have to learn about and from each other but also on how to live together as a community. They will think and talk about society-based issues which will enable them to open their minds, debate, share ideas and respect those from others, and focus on cultural awareness for better intercultural understanding.
To reach these objectives, the youth will work in pairs: one moroccan with one french. Each day of the journey, 4 groups will be responsible of choosing one issue, organizing activities around this topic and writing an article to summarize the day. The others 4 groups of pairs will be responsible for the logistics : prepare meals and organize a cultural visit. Moreover, workshops will be organized around different society issues such as equality between men and woman, waste management and on solutions brought on the field by NGOs, the local economy and actors of the social and solidarity economy. Youths will work on these different subjects, exchange their point of views and create materials and content to share theirs ideas with a large public.
Meetings and visits will be set-up with the different partners by the organisers of the project. Enable the youth to get out "into the field" will allow them to get to know better the situation on the ground, exchange with differents actors, share their different point of views on society's isssues and develop their empathy. Moreover, during these fields visits, they will interview the different partners and thus acquire journalistic skills.
At the end of the project, the different completed work made by young people as well as the interviews of the different partners will be shown during the week of International Solidarity and the Peace Week.
