The aim of the project is to continue succesful cooperation between ELF and WWF to improve oil combating preparedness on the coasts of Gulf of Finland. The funding for year 2007 would secure the continuation of joint activities in long term. Voluntary oil combating brigades are trained and equipped in both countries in cooperation with rescue and environmental authorities. Especially this project focus in developing the preparedness and activities towards the cleaning of oiled birds. Key aspect is building of strong international network with other NGO's. The objective is to set the preparedness to international level in both countries. Compensation means for oil combating work in other European countries are studied and as a result a guide on the means is published. The guide will serve the purposes of NGO's and authorities when designing joint response activities. The public awareness on conservation of coastal and marine nature is increased in both countries.
