A balanced understanding EU integration between 2014-17 will be crucial in Britain. British scholars, university staff, students and civil society all combat a daily barrage of misinformation and prejudices about the EU; heightened by the challenge of an upcoming referendum over the British 'vocation European'. This is especially the case in south-east England, where Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU) operates as a beacon of nationally-acclaimed Politics/IR teaching, with its recent validation of new UG and PG EU politics options. Here, Dr Hadfield's Jean Monnet Chair project "Canterbury Pilgrims: the Journey to European Integration" establishes a robust spectrum of blended teaching and learning activities to foster progressive insight on EU integration.1. QUO VADIS EU? 100-hour, third-year module on EU foreign affairs within the BSc in European Studies; includes 4 webinars, EU summit simulation, and team-taught plenary. 2. Jean Monnet Mini Classes: 10 hours of foreign policy teaching to support two proposed Jean Monnet Modules: (1)"The Politics of Economics: European Political Economy during the Eurocrisis" (Dr Fitzgibbon) and (2) " Europe: From Continent to Community" (Dr Lieberman) 3. Jean Monnet Master Classes: Two 1-day EU foreign affairs workshops actively supporting MSc Research students. 4. Jean Monnet Junior Day: Annual 1-day team-taught workshop for 200+ local high school students covering the basics of EU integration, ending with EU summit simulation podcast. 5. EU Integration in the Classroom : Two annual 1-day team taught Pedagogic Plenaries supporting best-practice teaching on EU integration for CCCU's Faculty of Education.6. EU Pilgrim Podcasts: Three 1-hour podcasts providing highlights on current EU public and foreign affairs: publicly accessible, and featuring both Kent-based and national academics & relevant EU practitioners.7. Dedicated JM Chair Webpages and 'Pilgrim activities' blog.
