CAM SANATINDA YENİ UFUKLAR
Start date: Jul 1, 2014, End date: Jul 1, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Our Project is a Staff Mobility project under the scope of Erasmus+- Leonardo Da Vinci program and is intended to be carried out with the co-ordination of Beykoz Kız Teknik ve Meslek Lisesi (Beykoz Vocational High School for Girls) as the applicant organization Nuh Kuşçulu Teknik ve Endüstri Meslek Lisesi (Technical and Industrial Vocational High School) and Cam Sanatlarını Geliştirme ve Turizme Kazandırma Dernegi, Istanbul (Development of Glass Art and its Integration to Tourism Association, Istanbul) and Çek Cumhuriyeti/Valasske Mezirici de Stredni umeleckoprumyslova skola sklarska (Czech Republic/Glass School) as partner organizations. Our project, which is titled as “New Horizons in Glass Art”, will include teachers of Ceramic and Glass Technologies Department in Beykoz Kız Teknik ve Meslek Lisesi High School and several members of Beykoz Cam Sanatlarını Geliştirme ve Turizme Kazandırma Dernegi. Our goal in this project is to set a common principle in teaching of glass technologies by sharing knowledge and experience with the cooperation of Nuh Kuşçulu Teknik ve Endüstri Meslek Lisesi which also teaches glass technologies same as we do. Since the Ottoman Era, Beykoz has been one of the most important centers of Glass Art. With its unique techniques, the best works of “Cesm-I Bulbul”, which is one of the most important glass techniques of Turkish Glass Art, have been produced here. After Pasabahce Glass Factory was founded in Beykoz, the region gained a very important role in the development of Glass Art. Since the Pasabahce Glass Factory moved its location from the region, some big and small businesses have sustained the development of the Art of Glass. Our school is one of the rare institutions in Turkey which provides education in Glass Technologies, therefore; supplies well-qualified employment in the field. With our project, it is intended for the participants to realize their competence in their profession, to expand their professional knowledge through new techniques and different styles and practices. During their visit to a different country and an organization, the participants will be able to observe these techniques, practices and the materials, equipment used in their original setting. They will also be informed about the subjects such as the criteria in student selection to Glass Technologies Department, the procedure of the internship of the students, curriculum development of the partner organization in Czech Republic. This acquired knowledge on the issues will be a milestone for each participant organization to create a common language in the art and education of glass and to achieve an international standard in the field. As a result of these new horizons, we wish to provide education for more qualified artists and employees. Our project will indirectly contribute to awareness raising and the cultural sustainability of Glass Art both in Turkey and in Czech Republic. Regarding these goals and objectives of our project, the participants of the project are intended to join the Mobility of Staff activity in Stredni umeleckoprumyslova skola sklarska in Czech Republic for seven days in October, 2014.
