CAD/CAM Technologies
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The rapid growth of technology and intelligence in the world has increased the demand for a more highly educated workforce. Therefore, one of the objectives of the project is to provide our students with the best possible vocational education which would enable them to reach a high professional level of competency and to become more competitive and flexible in the demanding global market. Taking into account these demands, Buzet High School introduced a new vocational programme for the profession Technician for electrical machines with applied computer engineering two years ago. As the school is unable to finance the purchase of the advanced CNC machinery, a cooperative arrangement has been made with the Vocational Secondary School in Koper to provide the students with education and training on the latest CNC technologies. The students selected to do the training are the students of Buzet High School enrolled in the vocational programme Technician for electrical machines with applied computer engineering. A total of 52 students will participate in the 4 mobility activities, and they will be selected according to the set criteria. The duration of each mobility activity is two weeks. The training activities have been chosen to achieve the objective of the project which is to develop and improve the students’ skills on CNC machinery and welding. All the activities will take place in the workshops of the Vocational Secondary School in Koper and will be guided and supervised by the teachers of the vocational subjects, i.e. the students’ mentors. The students will be introduced to, experience and learn the following: • modeling in the SolidWorks programme, • managing the CNC milling machines, • the basis of CAD-CAM milling in the SolidCAM, using the 3D printer, • handling the tools for arc welding and oxy-acetylene gas welding, • MIG, MAG and TIG welding • working with the CNC plasma cutters and arc welding robots. Besides doing their training, the students, accompanied by their mentors, will visit the companies which use the modern CNC technology, like Hidria d.o.o. and DAG d.o.o Koper, and they will also be introduced to the historical and cultural heritage of the City of Koper and the surrounding coastal towns. The informal learning via active socialization will enable students to develop skills and competences in European context and increase their interest for and knowledge of cultural differences. Upon completion of the mobility programme, the students will have improved their vocational skills and knowledge in CNC technology as well as acquired professional competences to meet the expectations of a competitive and flexible market. The students’ acquired knowledge and skills will further develop their independence and responsibility. The training, discussions and various activities will encourage the social and multicultural growth of both schools as well as their growth in the vocational field. The project partners will strengthen their cooperation through this project and continue to work together to improve vocational education. The project is of utmost importance not only for Buzet High School and Koper Vocational Secondary School and their students, but also for both local communities and the whole surrounding region. It will strengthen local, regional and international cooperation as well as secure the conditions for a successful and qualitative vocational education for current and future students.
