PROJECT
FINISHED
One of our school's main goals is to ensure how we can be useful to our society. Being aware that unemployment is hitting our adult students, our institution strives to provide them with the most suitable of all employability tools , which is mastering (C2) a second language - one of Erasmus + and of the Education and Training 2020 strategic framework objectives. Thus, the goal is twofold : most of our students, who are teachers, will be more likely to get a post in bilingual educational centres and the rest of the students will increase their chances of employability and promotion. Likewise, all our students will enhance their self-confidence, considered a valulable asset when being in contact with other European professionals.Mastering foreign languages is a key factor when promoting European citizens' employability and mobility, whilst a poor command of another language can be a hindrance to the free flow of employees across Europe. This is the reason why our Management Board decided to undertake this project: ' C2 Mastery in EFL: Boosting employability 'With the aim of achieving a global view of our school's needs, the Management Board agreed that all the decisions concerning our project; i.e. the course selection and the criteria to select the participant, should be made within the Teaching Commission, which is formed by the Management Board and the Heads of the different Language Departments. Both the Teaching Staff and the Teaching Commission agreed unanimously to select Ms. Enríquez as the best candidate. She is an experienced teacher , who has been in charge of implementing the C1 level in our school .The main targets of this project are: - Analysing the scheduling, designing and development of C2 courses by other foreign professional teachers in order to learn from their good classroom practice and skills.-Getting in touch with other European institutions or professionals of our likeness with whom we could collaborate in the near future.-Having access to authentic , innovative and motivating teaching resources.- Making students aware of their role as European citizens and the increasing possibilities of being employed abroad thanks to the mastery of a second language.-Enhancing our school's European dimension.- Increasing the quantity of courses available. As a consequence, the formation received in this project will result in a better development of our teaching staff impacting directly on our adult students' linguistic competence, which along with the C2 certificate will boost their employability opportunities. By sharing the formation and the materials received during the course, the whole Education Community will benefit from the following: -Providing further knowledge regarding the latest methodology in C2 level teaching through the acquisition of good classroom practice and the improvement of our teaching competence.-Increasing the students' employment and promotion prospects thanks to the mastery of a second language.-Encouraging the teaching staff's motivation and interest in the event of forthcoming collaboration in European projects. -Boosting our teachers' confidence when facing new challenges, such as implementing and evaluating advanced second language level courses never taught before in our school.-Improving public opinion regarding the assessment of our institution concerning foreign language teaching and the European dimension.-Implementation of C2 level in English, and gradually in the other 3 languages taught in our school, which will be a long-term benefit. This Management Board strongly believes that we have selected the best candidate to guarantee the success of this project, thus impacting positively on our Educational Community. This project will consist on a formation mobility and a number of activities to be developed on a three -term basis throughout the academic year 2016-17: dissemination of the project through internal communication channels such as memos, leaflets, the school's web site and social networks; through the APEOIR ( Association of Official Language School Teachers in La Rioja), talks, workshops or questionnaires, just to name a few. These actions aim at bringing Europe closer to our students as well as to all the citizens in our region. With such measures we hope our students will improve their linguistic competence and become more aware of the European reality we belong to.
