Business Advice and Guidance training for women Entrepreneurs

BADGE aimed to transfer and adapt an innovative support programme - Diversity in Business Workshops - developed in the UK, and that enabled female start-ups experiencing double-disadvantage to gain valuable soft skills and competences to assist them in starting up their own business. The purpose of the transfer was to strengthen the position of women entrepreneurs in the face of a difficult economic situation, so that they start their own business and improve their language and communication skills. The purpose of the detailed study of the target group conducted within the project’s framework was to prepare all tools responding to diverse needs of women in each of the partner countries. The next step was to adapt “Diversity in Business Workshops” into business tools and a training program for business advisors in partner countries. The developed tool has been tested by 160 women across the whole partnership. Furthermore, the target group has received access to an e-learning platform and all supporting materials in their native language. The project has been realized for two yearsPilot workshops with women were carried out in the partner countries GR, CY, RO, BG, HR, PL, and LT to test the methodology, which included separate trainers (business advisors) and learners kits. An online community has been created to continue the peer-support approach, using Web2.0 and social media to reduce isolation and build valuable social capital for the target group. VET trainers had access to innovative European approaches and the opportunity to share knowledge with peers across Europe.BADGE had 2 main target groups; disadvantaged entrepreneurial women and specialists in VET-oriented organisations who offered support for these women. BADGE had significant impact on both groups short-term, (in terms of immediate benefits), and long-term (through the empowerment of learners, project dissemination and networks created). The main project outcome is the revised tool in all 7 partner languages, constituting the business advisor’s material as well as the learners’ material, accompanied by an e-learning platform and online community.
