Youth at Work is a three-month youth-led project to research youth employment in Buncrana and to create a user-friendly directory of employers and employment opportunities including detailed information about application deadlines and requirements. The aim of the project is to help young people with the challenging process of finding employment and gaining all-important job experience by giving them vital information to facilitate the application process. The directory will also aid employers by limiting unwanted approaches from young people seeking employment at the wrong time or in the wrong way. The young people will present their directory at a public meeting to which key members of the community will be invited. The directory will then be made available to young people at Buncrana Youth Drop In, in local schools, the library and other youth centres. Research from the project will be made available to politicians in the area to help them understand the on-the-ground realities for young people seeking employment.
