This project is based on a strong existing partnership between the two organisations involved, ICYE-UK and Lastochki and follows on from a previous successful EVS project. This project involves one young person from the UK taking part in a 10-month Youth Volunteering activity (EVS) in Samara in the Russian Federation. The receiving organisation's work is focused on promoting intercultural awareness through international mobility and volunteering. The participant in this project will have an active role in the receiving organisation which will allow for her involvement in a wide range of different tasks and activities and provide a unique non-formal learning experience. The participant will bring a new cultural perspective to the work of the host organisation and will also have the opportunity to learn about Russian culture, traditions, values and ways of life. The project is also designed to provide the opportunity for intercultural dialogue between the participant, other international volunteers in Samara, members of the receiving organisation and the local community allowing for increased cultural and European awareness for all those involved. It is therefore expected that the project will be of mutual benefit for all those involved and will directly contribute towards the aims of the receiving organisation by further promoting intercultural learning and active citizenship through voluntary service to a wider audience.
