This project is based on a strong existing partnership between the two organisations involved, ICYE-UK and Lastochki and follows on from previous successful EVS projects. This project involves one young person from the UK taking part in a 10-month European Voluntary Service in Samara in the Russian Federation (partner country)The sending and receiving organisations' work focuses on promoting intercultural awareness through international mobility and volunteering. The participant in this project will have an active role in the receiving organisation which will allow for their involvement in a wide range of different tasks and activities and provide a positive non-formal learning experience. The participant will bring a new cultural perspective to the work of the receiving organisation and will also have the opportunity to learn about Russian culture, traditions, values and ways of life. The project is also designed to provide the opportunity for intercultural dialogue between the participant, other international volunteers in Samara, members of the receiving organisation and the local community allowing for increased cultural and European awareness for all those involved. It is therefore expected that the project will be of mutual benefit for all those involved and will directly contribute towards the aims of the sending and receiving organisations by further promoting intercultural learning and active citizenship through voluntary service to a wider audience.
