Context and background of the project:Summer camp´s project is a short- term project (duration 14 days) that SPOSA organise every year since 2003. It is devoted to persons with autism, their parents and their healthy siblings. Also, volunteers from all over Europe are participating, to reinforce the riches of the exchanges. In the goal to respond to the association´s project, it´s important for us to integrate at least 2 volunteers with speial needs. Objectives of the project:The main goals are first the dialogue and the integration of people with autism into normal life. Then, the intercultural communication and relationship thanks to the participation of volunteers from different countries.The objectives of the project are:- Encourage non- formal education among people with disabilities;- Illuminate the problems of people with fewer opportunities and the issues of their integration, and contribute to their solution;- Promote the knowledge of problems of people with disabilities and encourage their active participation in the integration process of people with fewer opportunities;- Promote intercultural exchange: get acquainted with the peculiarities of different cultures, their traditionsNumber and profile of participants:For this project, we need 10 volunteers whose 2 disabled persons with their assistants.These participants have to be motivated to work with people with fewer opportunities and people with autism and their families (parents and siblings). We need creative people, who can play an instrument, who can sing, who can play theater or take pictures and who can bring new ideas. We need volunteers who are motivated to learn about disabilities and cultures and who are able to work in group and cooperate.Description of activities:The first week of the summer camp is dedicated only for volunteers to get ready for the second week to work with people with autism. It allows all volunteers to get to know each other, talk about autism and think about particular situations, prepare a schedule for the following week and get ready for all activities that they will provide.The second week is dedicated for people with autism and their families. Last year, activities during each day were divided like this: three activities the morning (musical and theater workshop, handcrafting workshop, therapy with a psychologist, creative workshop: sport day, hiking, treasure hunting, mascarade, "International day").Methodology to be used in carrying out the project:SPOSA hosts volunteers for long- term EVS, who will prepare in advance everything which need to be ready for the summer camp.They will study good and negatives points about the last summer camp, and lead this project according to it. Moreover, all participants will have one week, included to the summer camp project, to be prepared, which is dedicated to talk about their tasks, to exchange about cultures, risk- prevention and so on. Two leaders, who will be volunteers who are doing their long- term EVS in our organisation, will control the process of the project and will provide these activities with the help of the President of SPOSA.Short description of the results and impact envisaged, potential longer term benefits:We expect of this project to open the mind of people who are not aware about autism. It is also an opportunity for parents to take a rest, to realize that they are not alone and to be aware about which opportunities are available to them to be supported. It is also a possibility for people with few opportunities to realize their capacities and allow them to develop new skills.Generally speaking, for the young volunteers it is an opportunity to know new people and to be involved in the life of diversity, to express their creativity and initiativeness, to share their experience and knowledge and be privy about problems of people with autism and their families.Also, for families and all participants of the camp, we expect that this project will be an opportunity for integration, for dialogue with other families and with people without disabilities, intercultural communication and relations, cultural diversity, for breaking stereotypes, developing tolerance, empathy and mutual understanding.
