Building Bridges between education and employment
Start date: Aug 1, 2015, End date: Jul 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The difficult labour market situation in Spain, with a high rate of youth unemployment, hampers the access of newly qualified young people to the labour market. This project contributed to extend the opportunities to enter both national and European labour market for students who are about to complete their education as well as for those who are recent graduated. The project provided the students with the opportunity to raise and to improve the quality of their training by carrying out internships in European companies, and allowing them to get in touch with the European labour market. The close collaboration between schools and ESMOVIA enabled the development of this project. 5 VET schools from Valencian Community made up a consortium, that was coordinated by ESMOVIA. The consortium members VET schools set up relationships with companies and schools; thanks to this network, they could get familiar with innovation, share best practices and know about European policies, improving the quality of teaching and combating youth unemployment. 60 students participated to the project. The students were middle-level students or recent graduated, both in cooking/gastronomy or physical activities and sports in rural areas specialties. The Project foresaw 10 students’ flows: 6 flows to Italy, 2 to Malta, 1 to Portugal and 1 to United Kingdom. IES Enguera selected 23 students, CIPFP Xeste selected 8 students, IES Llopis Marí selected 13 students, IES Guadassuar selected 2 students, and CIPFP Ciudad del Aprendiz selected 14 students. The Project included 6 flows to Italy since the features of Italian partners’ profiles as well as the diversity of their geographical location gave the participating group the chance to gain work experience in very diverse companies from the same sector. Moreover, a similar project, with same characteristics, has been submitted in Italy and Portugal; this project allowed the Spanish consortium to host students from European schools with the aim to know and share experiences as well as to enhance active European citizenship. The main activities carried out by the partners during the projects were: -Preparation of the mobility: i.e. selection of participants, initial assessment of their skills, preparatory training of the participants, logistical and contractual issues, coordination, etc.; - The Mobility experience. Participants carried out their internship, by developing tasks according to each company’s work plan. They also took part in cultural activities; - Monitoring. The students’ advances have been monitored by the tools that had been previously established by the project; - Evaluation of the participants: skills and competences acquired by the participants during the internship has been certified by Europass, work placements’ certificates and as FCT (in case of students from the institutes). Work activities in companies aimed at making participants acquire competences that fit with their professional profile and educational needs; -Evaluation of the project’s results and creation of a report about the dissemination of results; - Dissemination: dissemination activities have been carried out throughout the project. Both national and European partners contributed to the dissemination. A final dissemination conference took place with the aim to spread the project’s results. Besides the impact on the participants, the project greatly benefited the partners by promoting European cooperation and the relationships between enterprises and schools. Dissemination activities and the mobility itself has created an impact at local, regional and national level. Although they were not directly involved in the project, other local, regional and national entities benefited from the project results: -Creation of a high-quality network that includes schools and enterprises; -Improvement of the youth employment rate; -Improvement of young people skills; -Increase of enrolment rate in VET schools; -Creation of new collaborative networks at regional level; -Increase the possibilities of internationalization for other institutions who potentially can participate in European projects. Increasing the number of the partners in the consortium; -Better knowledge of the Erasmus + program and EU values; - Improving the sense of European identity and active citizenship and promoting respect for other cultures; -Improvement of language competences and ICT skills for students and teachers; -Possibility of creating new enterprises and new business models; -Encouraging social inclusion. The project has been directly linked with the 2020 Strategy and its priorities and supports EU and its Member States to generate higher levels of employment, productivity and social cohesion.
