BUILD YOUR MOTIVATION: improving occupational opportunities and personal motivation through self-entrepreneurship empowerment and green skills development of VET learners in construction sector

BUILD YOUR MOTIVATION project will involve 60 students attending the three-years vocational training course for Construction Operators performed by the Bilateral Vocational Training Centers (Scuola Edile) of Vicenza, which is the project’s promoter, Belluno and Padova, other vocational training centers specialized in young construction workers’ education. All the three Training Centers got the government certification for continuous training, for higher education courses and for three-years vocational training courses, entering the Italian net of certified Vocational Training Centers. The project will provide three mobility flows: Germany in November 2014, Spain in March 2015 and Germany in May 2016. The project’s promoter already tested an excellent partnership with the organizations involved, which has been built during years of international exchange projects. The international partners are Vocational Training Centers specialized in construction workers’ education and training with high quality levels both in theoretical and practical learning processes. Most of the students involved in the mobility come from less than gratifying school experiences and, for that reason, they aren’t motivated from traditional learning methods (class courses, lessons, etc…). The internship mobility will be an important chance for them to experience a new way of learning, that they could probably never access or afford without this project. One of the main aims of the projects is to provide high qualified training to support the building industry with the standards of energetic efficiency and environment protection, considering those as necessary values in a modern aware market. The training of participants, therefore, will be focused on the latest and modern construction techniques, the ones that are more advanced in the innovation process of the construction world. The students will improve their skills and knowledge about Green Building techniques both through the preparatory activities executed by the sending Vocational Training Center and by performing them through direct experience in the hosting countries which are considered examples of excellence in Europe. One of the most important expected output is promoting a new way of learning, based on important values and self-improvement, rather than only on commanded hard work. The possibility of sharing personal improved abilities will enhance students’ self-esteem and the on-the-job experience will provide them new ideas about life projects, with the possibility of facing with positive role models. Obviously the foreign language learning process will be an important way to improve world’s and foreign cultures’ approach. The learning process will involve cultures, structures, production aspects but, first and foremost, personal resources spent in a educational path. The mobility duration will be of two weeks, mainly because of the young age of the students involved (most of them are under-age), but also because the mobility experience will take place during the school year. Tutors and trainers will guarantee ongoing assistance and presence both in terms of learning process and discipline issues and they will guide the group also in cultural and recreational activities; they will lead the group through every activity in cooperation with the hosting organizations. The mobility itself will be part of the school program and it will be evaluated with the same criteria used in the internal system with professional qualities and behavior. ECVET criteria will be used to certify the LO achieved. In addition to the Europass Mobility and the certificate issued by hosting and intermediaries partners, the trainees will receive a personal “Vocational Training Building Booklet” recognized at national level and coordinated by Formedil, which certifies training courses carried out by the person per unit of competence.
