Bringing Austria to Kazan - EVS Christina Mitterling
Start date: Jun 17, 2014, End date: Mar 16, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The aim of the project is the promotion of volunteering and youth activism, to spread information about possibilities to get involved in voluntary work on local, regional and international level and to bring people together to achieve positive results in many different spheres of life. With the direct involvement of an EVS-volunteer in the hosting organisation and their volunteer activities the aims of the project are to make people aware of the benefits of volunteering. Young people shall be made aware of other cultures and ways of living, increase their awareness and development of tolerance and understanding of diversity. They should become openminded and embrace dialogue and intercultural encounters with other people without prejudices and exclusion of others because of their different backgrounds and culture. During the project the volunteer will give presentations about international volunteering. These presentations can be also organized in a form of discussions and concern such topics as racism, xenophobia, gender equality, ecological problems. Volunteers together with the audience can exchange the experiences about dealing with these issues. It will be useful both for the volunteer and Russian participants to share the opinions about it and to know how the issues are dealt with in different countries. The volunteer will emphasize the importance of volunteering as a way to become aware of the issues of the modern world and show it as a way to broaden ones knowledge and understanding and to improve the situation in the future.
