The European Union is the world´s leading producer, consumer, exporter and importer of wine. In terms of quality, its reputation is recognised around the world. This is result of a centuries of quality wine making which provide the consumers with excelent quality wine. The wine sector in EU represents a vital economic activity especially as regards employment and exports revenue. With more than 1,5 million holdings, wine production in 2004 represented 5,4% of agricultural output. Wine production represents around 10% of the value of agricultural production. The strategy for Europe 2020 will present a new vision of social economy; it is based on 3 main lines of action. Smart growth, to develop an economy closely linked to knowledge and innovation, sustainable growth and integrated growth that seeks to promote social and territorial cohesion in terms of employment. Therefore, one of the objectives to be met by the member states is the employment for 75% of the population between 20 and 64 years. From here it proposes an agenda for new skills, improving conditions for the modernization of labour markets and increasing employment levels. Another measure proposed is based on increasing access across Europe to the vacant posts in member states and the proper recognition of professional qualifications and experience. BACO pretends to build bridges to save the gaps between the worlds of education and work. The European Commission recommends, creating skilled manpower and the sector demands skilled and versatile professionals. The development and recognition of what people know, understand and can do is essential to remove obstacles and exploit the opportunities of the new scenarios. Should be improved at European level, participation in lifelong learning across borders to all, mobility, transfer, recognition and accumulation of learningFor this reason, BRIDGING THE GAPS BETWEEN THE WORLDS OF EDUCATION AND WORK USING ECVET AND EQF PRINCIPLES IN THE WINE´S INTERNATIONAL TRADE challenge was to increase the mobility of wine sector workers and promote the systematic use of tools EQF, Europass and ECVET in order to have a higher transfer, recognition and accumulation of learning outcomes of individuals in contexts of formal, non formal and informal.
