We are a very multicultural non-formal group of youngsters from Itä-Pasila suburb in Helsinki, Finland. Our youngsters are aged between 14 and 19 years. Our partner for the project comes from the village of Oliana in Catalunya, Spain. The youngsters there are the same age group and interested in the same topics. The main goal of our project is to fight the racism and extremism by bringing together youngsters with different cultural and religious backgrounds and learn together about each other's culture and religion and prejudices and attitudes. The further objectives are:- through new experiences, meeting new people and getting to know another culture, the youngsters will gain understanding of different cultures and religions- by non-formal learnign youngsters will learn about prejudices and attitudes and about themselves and their values-by social inclusion the youngsters will gain self-confidence and feel themselves empowered-by group sharing and self-reflection the youngsters will gain new perspectives on life and new prospects for the future- youngsters will gain knowledge and understanding about healthy lifestyle and choicesThere will be 15 youngters from both Finland and Spain coming together to explore our themes in Oliana village, Spain. The youth exchange will have 6 action days and the group will be staying in the camping site in the village. Together we will work on our themes with different workshops and games and the group will be using sports such as football and hiking as tools to learn about each other so that there is a good foundation for our objectives to come through. Also the group will get to know each other's cultures by different events and presentations and they will work together to realize a presentation about their theme in the traditional village happening. Also they will share their experience through a blog and photos. After the youth exchange both groups will share the story and their learning deeper with their local communities. We will learn that we are all different but equal. The youngsters will gain new knowledge, skills and deeper undestanding of the topic and affect their friends and families and communities with these. And then we will start planning the next project where the Oliana people will come to Finland!
