Trafficking in persons is a serious crime and a grave violation of human rights. Every year, thousands of men, women and children fall into the hands of traffickers, in their own countries and abroad. Given to the recent events of people fleeing their countries, Europe has become a place where refugees have the need to feel safe and secure. According to the EU Strategy towards the Eradication of Trafficking in Human Beings 2012– 2016, reducing human trafficking is a priority. The project objectives are in line with the specific objective of Erasmus+ (Youth) to promote participation in democratic life in Europe, active citizenship, social inclusion and solidarity. The emphasis is given on equipping youth workers and volunteers with competences and methods to transfer the fundamental values of the European society and spread awareness on the matter of Human Trafficking.Through a series of interactive sessions, non-formal education methods and visits, the participants will obtain a theoretical and practical knowledge on this topic and meet the objectives of this activity which focus on participants’ awareness about the importance of active citizenship in the field of youth. Taking action in matters of Human Trafficking is also another objective that will need to fulfilled through this project. The dissemination of the European values are also an integral part of this project's outcomes.Especially for the people with fewer opportunities and who are unemployed, this project will help them to gain more information and practical awareness on what Human Trafficking is, to raise their visibility and to be inspired for what they can offer in their community.A Youthpass certificate will be given to all participants at the end of the project. The evaluation will be an ongoing process that will take place on a daily basis after each day's schedule in small reflection groups. There will be also a mid- term evaluation in order for the training team and organisers to be aware on how the project develops and a final evaluation in which all participants’ experiences and views about the project will be displayed. The project "Break the chains- Stop Human Trafficking" will give the opportunity to young people to obtain a more complete knowledge on the matter of human trafficking and through interaction they will become more open- minded and find ways on taking action upon this topic and spread awareness to their local and national communities.
