BRIDGE (Boosting a Real Inclusion through the Development of inter-Generational and cultural Exchanges) is an EVS project coordinated by InCo with the participation of 5 volunteers from 5 different countries (Spain, Germany, Belarus, Bosnia Herzegovina and Poland). BRIDGE represents both a life and a learning experience for volunteers who will be involved in the activities of 3 ROs in order to promote the social inclusion and the well-being of elderly and adults in state of need. All ROs involved (Caritas, ASSB and Civica) deal with adults facing disadvantaged situations such as loneliness, low self-esteem, homeless, sickness, etc. Inclusion is intended as a broad concept targeting not only people assisted by ROs but also the volunteers themselves. Indeed, a special eye is laid on volunteers with fewer opportunities – 2 of the volunteers identified for this project.
Volunteers will collaborate with the staff of the ROs being involved specially in cultural, recreational and awareness-rising activities weaving inter-cultural as well as inter-generational relations. Volunteers will be encouraged to implement their own initiatives. Besides that, they will support guests' in activities of their daily life. Peer-to-peer contact will be stimulated boosting not only socialization but also learning outcomes.
Through this EVS experience volunteers are expected to acquire and strengthen competences and attitudes significant to their personal growth and also future job placements. These skills and competences will be acquired through “Learning-by-doing” and “Person centred” approaches. Volunteers will be supported in their learning path by all partners who have already agreed on methods and roles.
BRIDGE is expected to have positive impacts on all the actors involved: volunteers could enhance skills and boost their personal growth; ROs could have enriching inputs; users of ROs' services could profit from volunteers' presence and contributions; partner organization could enhance their synergies and skills to work at EU level; local communities could be inspired by volunteers (which will be a BRIDGE between cultures and generations, giving an example of active citizenship and solidarity).
