The youth exchange BYE - Boost Your Employability was an 8-day Youth mobility, organized by Europe House Slavonski Brod from 12th October till 20th October 2015 in Zadar, Croatia. The exchange gathered 47 young people from 9 countries: Turkey, Greece, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Slovakia, Spain, Poland, Czech Republic and Bosnia and Herzegovina in order to give them effective access to formal and non-formal education and to create more awareness towards employability and how to become more entrepreneurial in finding job opportunities and filling in the life.
Most of the participants were unemployed youngsters with fewer opportunities, coming from long distance and rural areas.
The main objective was to give them guidance to deliver and develop core skills and engage their capability to adapt to change. The project was designed to find possibilities and to create more opportunities and insight for the young participants regarding their education, leisure time, volunteering and future career. The priority of the exchange was to create awareness about the own possibilities concerning entrepreneurship, what the options and possibilities are there and what they can gain for themselves by being the part of this project.
The program was filled with tasks which directed young participants to perform in a group work and encourage them to solve problems independently.
Objectives & priorities connected to the theme of entrepreneurship were:
• Put together in practice our experiences, definitions and ideologies related to entrepreneurship
• To make the youngsters aware regarding (un)employment and to recognize opportunities and chances in their own surrounding
• To reflect different realities in different European countries and cultures
• To understand the concept of working on project base and how to methodically organise an activity and/or workshop
• To create a better understanding on how to create fulfilment in a job
• To become entrepreneurs in the making and developing of video tutorials
• To let the youngsters create an own group project and getting familiar and get experience with working in all phases of a project
We used different methods of work in the program such as - experiential Learning "Learning by doing", simulation games and activities, role plays and teamwork projects.
The aim was to empower their initiatives and real life experience. Idea was to place them into situations that required strategic planning and decision making which in turn will help them prepare and increase in building their confidence, taking larger decisions and finally to feel confident in making a real impact for them and around them.
Participants became more aware of entrepreneurial learning and they can implement lessons they have learned in their activities own and projects in order to educate more youth about this concept.
