Youth exchange: Key Action 1: Boombox Wow Goes international Venue: Hyvärilä youth centre, Nurmes Dates: 20.-27.7.2014 Contries involved: Portugal & Finland Amount of participants: 38 (20 Finnish participants, 3 Finnish dance teachers, 15 Portuguese participants) The project funding, in total: 18 316,00? 20 Finnish and 15 Portuguese youngsters gathered up in Hyvärilä Youth Centre to share their passion for dance to build up their skills on a variety of dance styles. The main working method during the project was dance but the group meeting also held in some cultural workshops, -all led by the youngsters and their teachers. Youth and the professional dancers were teaching and sharing their skills with one other on the field of beatboxing, locking, modern dance and capoeira. As the grand final of this group meeting, the youth planned a few flash mobs which were presented to the local people of Nurmes. The whole programme and the content of the workshops was planned by the youngsters for the group meeting?s idea was to meet up with the youngsters own needs. The project met up with the aims set up for it: constructing cultural understanding, encouraging the youngsters to work for their passions and increasing the locals? knowledge on European Union funded projects.
