PROJECT
FINISHED
The Fachakademie für Sozialpädagogik provides professional training for childcare assistants and childcare workers. More than five years ago the Fachakademie started projects both for teachers and students with European partners. 10 projects have been completed successfully since then. In the meantime creating an awareness for Europe has become a salient objective of the Fachakademie's overall concept. The current project replaces an earlier one and uses the experience the Fachakademie and its partners gained so far.
As practical education in different settings is an essential part of the training as childcare worker the Fachakadmie will send 20 students every year for four weeks to childcare facilities in different European countries, at the moment to Spain, the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom. Further partners will follow. All students completed their training as childcare assistants. Thus they are professionally skilled to work at the hosting childcare facilities and gain further knowledge and skills. They will learn new methodologies and improve their monitoring skills. After their internship they will be ready to live and work in a different European country. Finally they see an example for how Europe works.
The students will be carefully selected at the Fachakademie, their knowledge and skills in childcare and their English competence being the most important criteria. They will be prepared linguistically and culturally by expert teachers. They will organize travel and accomodation on their own. The Fachakademie, however, will be ready to prepare assistance. During their internships they will be monitored by a teacher from the Fachakademie via e-mail or internet. He or she also visits the students while they're abroad. Furthermore there will be a constant supervision by the hosting childcare facilities. The learning outcomes as well as the procedures of the internship will be fixed in a quality commitment between the sending and hosting institutions and the trainee.
Every participant will get the Europass mobility certificate. He or she will also have to present the activities during the internship to his or her peer students and write a report about it. This presentation and the report will be part of the grade. Furthermore there will be an additional presentation of the internship to the school public.
