Mönchberg Primary School is situated in a village with about 1100 inhabitants in the outskirts of Herrenberg south of Stuttgart and south of a big nature park called “The Schönbuch”. It is an old school with long traditions and a close relationship with the local community which has been strengthened by several Comenius projects. The school uses ICT and etwinning and got a German National etinning label in 2011 for the Twinspace "Investigations Across The Seasons" and in 2013 for "Green Creativity Across Europe". The school is smaller than most primary schools and surrounded by orchards. 23 pupils are partly taught in combined mixed-age classes from age 6 - 10. The staff of Mönchberg Primary School is very much interested in the concept of successfull European schools like in the United Kingdom, in Finland and South Tyrol. Therefore the school applies for the two-year Key Action 1 School staff mobility project to improve the quality of teaching methodologies and inspire staff at our school. Teachers will take part in "Language and Practical Methodology: Creativity in the Classroom" in the UK and thereby develop their skills in developing innovative curriculum activities from their training concerning English as a foreign language. Inspired, committed professionals will drive positive change to the school and day-to-day teaching methods. This project will make them ready to integrate good practices and methodology learned in the UK, Finland and South Tyrol for the benefit of the whole school community. There will be a focus on inclusion and teachers/a parent are eager to learn from eachother to incorperate best practise from eachother.Thanks to their participation in the previous Comenius programmes, Mönchberg Primary School has a good understanding of the benefits of working collaboratively with other schools across Europe.
