The idea of the project BioDiversity comes from the crisis that has taken root in in recent years and is profoundly changing oursociety: an economic, social and environmental crisis. To deal with the austerity, rising unemployment and social inequality, environmental degradation and the depletion of natural resources and fossil fuels, many Europeans are tempted to turn toEurosceptic, nationalist and reactionary movements.Despite this contraction and this general trend, in all parts of Europe, citizens are committed to projects of collective action andsocial transformation. There is a growing awareness of "other ways" of acting and living together: research offers more and more tangible examples that we actually have the necessary resources to ensure sustainable development of our territories and oursociety. We have to keep focus on the basis of our life, the "scenario" that hosts us: the ecosystem that today, more than ever, needsus and our responsibility. There is a growing need for collective maturity, the need to become aware and act actively and wiselytowards our environment and the defense of its biodiversity, an essential factor for the preservation of the planet and the speciesthat inhabit it.The BioDiversity project aims to contribute to the creation of a European society more sensitive to the protection of ecosystems andbiodiversity, and more aware of its importance to our lives. To achieve this, we aim to train youth workers who become promoters ofa collective knowledge and a healthy approach to nature.
