The project will develop and test a new and innovative approach to the education and training of individuals in the biotechnology sector so as to promote new ways of working and organisational models for European business. The themes to be developed have been identified through a close partnership with the biotechnology sector, understanding of individual and organisational needs, and knowledge of social, economic, political and technological contexts in the Member States. The project focuses on the development of solutions to business problems in crucial knowledge-based economic sectors where traditional methods are not appropriate or have failed. The project's work and results are geared to biotechnology, but they will have widespread utility in other sectors such as information and communication technology, high-precision electronics and e-commerce, where new ways of working and new models of organisational structure are also needed. The project will develop and produce practice models, teaching and coaching methodologies, and specific educational products which will include paper-based and on-line business simulation models, organisational analysis tools and concept mapping software. The products will be available to business people, and the methods and approaches will be shown to others in practitioner, decision-making and policy communities at national and European level.
