Start date: Sep 1, 2014, End date: Aug 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Jenny Nyström school has for several years been able , through various European programs, to send students on internships abroad. All the projects have been very successful, the students have been very happy and had knowledge that has been impossible to obtain at home. Altogether, our goal is to send 62 students during a period of 2 year , students affected are from Childcare programme, Health and social care students, Hotels and tourism students and pupils from Restaurant and Food Programme; directions restaurant and bakery/pastry. Our partner countries are Norway, United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Germany. Germany is a new partner, while other countries are former partners, where our exchanges have been very positive for all parties. We have well thought out plans for our exchanges, agreements to which both parties agree. Each host country organizes internships and housing and social activities with the students, the evaluation is done by the host organization before students go back home. Sending organization selects students, inform students and parents, makes reservations, assessment forms and evaluation. After completing the internship, the students spread their newly acquired knowledge and experiences to other students and teachers. At our school, we want to offer our students an added value in their education. An added value is for example to be able to do some of their practical training in a place other than the home market. Students leave school better prepared for their career and know that there is a larger labor market than in the immediate area. Each student must understand that there are great opportunities for jobs on a flexible labor market if he himself is willing to move. The pupils are also trained to take more personal responsibility for their career. A boost may be curiosity and excitement in making vocational training abroad. Even those students who don´t do training abroad are becoming aware of the possibilities by spill-over from those who had been abroad. That our school can interact and share their experiences between vocational programs, strengthen our vocational training courses. Students in vocational programs are extremely positive to take new professional experiences abroad. We can through previous exchanges see big gains for students; professional pride is strengthened, self-confidence improves, English language skills are strengthened and the student will gain knowledge of other cultures, thus increasing understanding of each other's similarities and differences.
