The project that we are applying with, called "Beyond Humor into Discrimination", involves 30 young participants from 6 countries: Romania, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Denmark, Italy and Israel, aged between 18 to 25. There will be a youth exchange lasting for 7 days, taking place in a youth camp in the mountains of Paltinis and in the nearest town, Sibiu. The theme of the project is discrimination detailed into prejudice, discrimination by every criteria (including social differences) and gender equality. There will be activities, discussions, debates aiming to make the participants realize the source of the discriminative behavior in the contemporary society, the causes, the manifestation and the effects of such attitudes and to find solutions for these problems. The instrument for non-formal education is a type of modern comedy, short ironical monologues based on the day by day reality, called stand-up comedy and the common seemingly harmless jokes. In the daily agenda of the actual exchange there will be: thematic movie night and short movie making, debates, amateur stand-up comedy demonstrations, workshops, cultural visits in Sibiu, stand-up comedy festival, intercultural evenings, dynamics and games. Thus, the project promotes principles and values appreciated in the entire European Union and supported by the Youth In Action Program, such as : tolerance, mutual respect and understanding, diversity, gender equality, civic spirit and initiative in order to get involved in the development and the evolution of the society that each live in, both at national and at international- European level.
