Bee.In — Euro Training for Honey Industries

The project assumes the presence throughout of Europe of 1 million people active in the honey production, mainly aged over 45 and located in southern Europe, often in areas at risk of desertification. The project approach is articulated in 3 sectors : training for apiculture, training for honey industry staff, training for management of the commercialisation process. It plans the implementation of standing experimental campuses and centres for technological innovation. As well as the building of a network of skilled cultivators, such as to become a model reference and the creation of European Centers for honey resources: the first will be established in the premises of a project’s partner. The objective is overcoming the present situation of absence or extreme weakness of training for the relevant sector: i.e IndustryTraining for Apiculture, Honey Industry and Honey trade management. The activities consist in the implementation of the afore-mentioned European centres for honey resources, the experimental campuses, the centres for technological innovation in honey production, conservation and distribution. -- RESULTS AND PRODUCTS: The outcome is a differentiated (apiculture, industry, production and trade management) e.learning programme. The products are(1) the project’s website,(2) the courses largely based on “ad hoc” produced DVD,(3) the ancillary handbooks with proper directions for trainers and users -- POTENTIAL FUTURE: According to the proposal some parts of the programme can be used everywhere, some others concerning quality assurance, health protection etc are conditioned by the different national regulations.
