Be curios of the world in Sokołowsko
Start date: May 2, 2016, End date: May 1, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The volunteers will be accommodated in the small village - Sokolowsko, in the south part of Lower Silesia in Poland. Sokolowsko has 800 inhabitants and it used to be a very popular and leading sanatorium. Because of the rich history and beautiful location, Sokolowsko attracts many activists. There is an active promotion of local history and heritage of the region. The project will take place in a local multimedia lab conducted by the Association "Filtrator", which is located in the community center in the heart of Sokolowsko. It is a meeting place for locals and a place of workshops run by volunteers. The project will be focused on two different elements. One of the goals of the EVS Project is to work with the community of the village by organizing the activities and workshops with them. The second aim is focused on nature and environmental protection. The goal is to expand the touristic potential of the village and increase the awareness of the big value of this historical village. The volunteers will be able to develop specific skills in working with young people and local community. Besides the possibility to be volunteer in our organization, we would like to provide for the volunteers a chance to develop their own projects (it can be an exchange, meeting, seminar, workshops for local people, etc.).This is our big goal to encourage volunteers to create their own projects, by using knowledge of non-formal education and the support of our team. By this experience volunteers can develop individual potential and ability to turn ideas into action. It can develop a sense of initiative and entrepreneurship, creativity, innovation and risk-taking, as well as the ability to plan and manage projects in order to achieve objectives. This experience is a great deal, personally, practically and creatively. We would like to give a chance to get to know different methods of non-formal education and working with local communities. We will be looking for volunteers who are motivated to work with people in a non-formal education and sustainable development as well as interested in different areas such as handcrafts, woodcraft, ecology, music, photography, moviemaking, sports, and how it can be used in a community center.
