Studies show that, language barrier is an important issue for misunderstanding people. Even they talk the same language, if there is cultural difference among them; it is possible to misunderstand each other. To create a peaceful world, we have to minimize these barriers and misunderstandings. In this context our project will focus Language Barriers in Cultural Learning to create awareness about the issue and contribute to solve this problem.
Project will be organized in the Sheffield city under training and networking of youth workers (KA1)- Programme Countries
Aims and objectives:
The owerall aim of the project is ‘to entegrate people coming from different countries and cultures even though they have lots of differences and to contribute forming a society who is away from prejudices and who can understand each other better’.
Objectives of the Project are:
- To create awareness of language barriers for cultural interaction in participants.
- To increase the quality of cooperation and communication amoung the institutions which work on young peoplein Europe, youth workers and young people.
- To teach youths and youth workers how to use language in intercultural communication.
- To strenghten communication among yougs and youth workers coming from different backgrounds.
- To provide intercultural learning by encouraging tolarence towards different cultures and cooperation.
Duration:
Overall project will last 180 days in total. Training activity in Sheffield city will last 6 days.
Partner countries and number of participants:
Participants of the activity are from UK, Turkey, Latvia, Hungary, Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia.There will be 38 participants in total, 1 facilitator, 2 trainers and 3 support staff. In total the event will host 38 participants.
Activities are, NGO fair, Cultural night, field visit, orientation activities, case analysis activities, lecturing on language barriers and youth projects, real time practices on misunderstanding of language barriers, conversations, presentation of best practices, preparing reports of best practices, planning of future, creating drafts of the projects, partnership building activity, project simulation, discussions and negotiations, evaluation activities.
Methods are, Lectures, orientation meeting, group dynamic games, , ice breakers and warmers, brainstorming, group discussions and bilateral discussions, lecturing, fieldworks, group presentations, workshop, , individual work, brainstorming, problem analysis techniques, W-H questions, activity and strentgh analysis.
Impact and results:
Awareness about Language Barriers in Cultural Learning will be created, good practices will be shared, cooperation and communication among the organizations will increase, cultural awareness will be created, they will be more conscious about Erasmus+ and youth projects, local people will be more conscious about barriers in cultural learning. Participants will have better communication skills.
Long term benefit of this project is that, it will contribute to create more peaceful Europea and long term partnerships.
