The project titled "Friendship Builders" was implemented through the cooperation between the municipalities of Tata and Dammarie-les-Lys with the participation of 8 Hungarian and 8 French secondary school students. The aim of the project was to provide a basis for a long-term co-operation and friendship between the young people of the two towns, which also implies a considerable strengthening in the two towns' twinning relationship. The young people gathered for a one-week meeting in Tata in October 2015. The meeting's programme included a wide range of methodically diverse activities, which helped the participants first get to know and better understand one another, then create mutual respect and finally establish friendships between them. The context of this process was our common homeland, Europe. The young people were active participants in each activity: they prepared presentations, debated, did arts and crafts, played sports etc. The meeting concluded with planning projects promoting the dialogue between French and Hungarian young people and to be carried out with the co-operation of French and Hungarian youths. The project contributed to the development of the personality and personal competences of the young participants, helped creating a hopefully long-term, personal relationship between some of them, serves as a good example for the implementation of further youth projects between the two towns and serves as a starting point for a more extensive international youth co-operation.
