PROJECT
FINISHED
This project is implemented by the Städtische Berufsschule 4 Nürnberg (abbreviated below as 'B4') in cooperation with the European College of Business and Management (abbreviated below as 'ECBM'). It is an important part of the B4's internationalisation strategy. This strategy is intended to prepare B4's students for changing requirements of the labour market which are due to the increasing internationalisation of the German economy. Since many local companies are very export-oriented (Export rate in the region is 45 %, according to the Chamber of Commerce), they need more and more employees who are familiar with international business practices in addition to business English skills. The willingness of employees to occupational mobility is also becoming increasingly important.
The main objective of this programme is to improve the participants' career prospects by increasing their knowledge of international business practices, communication and foreign language skills. The course enables them to obtain the "Kaufmann International Certificate" certified by the Deutscher Industrie- und Handelskammertag (DIHK). The target group of this project are VET learners in companies. The B4 will send a group of 25 commercial trainees to London.
The aim of the project is to enable the participants to understand international business practices in the context of the European economic area by using the example of London as an international financial and business location. Furthermore participants can improve their knowledge of English and intercultural skills.
During this three-week programme important skills such as telephoning, business correspondence, negotiating and applying for a job in a foreign language are trained. The students learn how to plan, implement and present projects in English in an international environment. The project work also stimulates their intercultural awareness, helps them to develop their personality and willingness to occupational mobility .
The B4 has established a special team for planning and implementing international projects, which is called Europateam. It ensures the sustainability and quality control of these programmes. All participants give us feedback before, during and after their stay abroad by using an online questionnaire. The questionnaires are evaluated by the Europateam. Therefore we are able to update the content of this programme in close coordination with the ECBM and to meet the needs of our participants.
We expect improved employment opportunities for the participants of the programme due to the Kaufmann International Certificate and an increase in their occupational mobility.
