Two schools in Brussels, i.e. Koninklijk Atheneum Ukkel en Koninklijk Technisch Atheneum Zavelenberg, and their project ‘ Backup-stage in Madeira’ are organising a practical training for three weeks in Madeira.The participants are all secondary school pupils studying commerce. Most of them come from a disadvantaged home situation.During their internship they indulge in professional skills and competences. Meanwhile, the intention is that the participants have time to look more closely not only at business culture and working method but also at culture in general and nature of the host country.Number of participants: flow 1: 12, flow 2: 14.Long-term impactExperience has shown that these traineeships can constitute added value in the field of subject-based competences, language development, interpersonal skills, general education and have a positive impact on ‘critical European thinking’.Moreover, this mobility experience enables participants to improve the quality of work in all its aspects.A strong focus of the internship will be on administrative activities. By carrying out specific tasks , the participants acquire more and more autonomy and ultimate responsibility.
