Awake Senses
Start date: Feb 1, 2012,

Awake Senses is an EVS project with an aim of promoting greater social inclusion of youth living with disabilities into society. It includes one short-term EVS service which will last for 2 months and hosts 4 different participants with either sensory or physical disability, coming from abroad. Beside this one we will simultaneously host one 6 months long EVS service. Both EVS services will be hosted and coordinated by Estonian Special Youth Work Organisation noOR with the help of Sending organisations involved and local partner organisations.Themes of both projects are disability and social inclusion. Program designed for the projects consist of volunteers self-development, intercultural learning and awareness raising activities. We create a space where youth with disabilities will have secure environment for their self-expression and an opportunity to share their experiences among their own target group, but also with mainstream youth. It is also an opportunity to bring together organisations that work in NGO field as well as in public field (schools, youth centres) to create new form of network and give a chance for new forms of collaborations. Program that is designed for the projects support non-formal education methods and will rely on the key competences provided within YouthPass to follow and support volunteers learning experiences.
