The AUTO-QUALITY project follows up the preceding work under the Leonardo I project FORTISSIME, whose object was to create pedagogic tools for vocational training via tutoring.The furniture trade is changing: clients are demanding better quality in the face of growing competition. The objectives are thus to create a transnational training system with an eye to total quality (auto quality) for all personnel, via a self-training method at the workplace and distance open training and education. A pedagogic model will be developed to train managerial staff as team instructors. Lifelong in-house learning modules will be created for unskilled workers.The innovation lies in the development of a learning company model that provides training and manages certification for total quality assurance. The introduction of total quality assurance in the participating firms will pave the way to the ISO 9000 Certification (quality assurance). The other impact will be to increase the competitiveness of European firms and to encourage ecological manufacture in Europe.The method will be disseminated via the networks of the Association of Furniture Manufacturers participating in the project. The products, methods and training materials will for the most part be available in all the languages of the participating countries (ES, FR, EL, PT, RO).
