Aurinkorannikon Saapas-ryhmän perehdyttäminen työmenetelmään
Start date: Aug 1, 2015, End date: Oct 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The target was to transmit to Saapas group of Costa del Sol in Spain the experience of common working method and support the feeling of being a member of bigger Saapas organization as a group outside of Finland. The group got practical experience participating on Saapas service for the youth in the street and the Saapas night café. None of the participates of Spain had any earlier experience of Saapas labour. This project gave the possibility to learn the operation of Saapas and get new contacts of finnish providers. Saapas” voluntary group of 4 people (original target was 7 persons) arrived from Spain to the excursion in Finland, which consisted of the weekend for “Saapas” volunteers, participation in the diocesan youth work days, as well as participation in the activities of the church of Kajaani and the municipality youth outreach work. Three of the participants are responsible supervisors and voluntary supervisors of “Saapas” group in the Costa del Sol. They have set up the group in the Costa del Sol. One of the participants is an active volunteer who has joined the group soon after it was set up. The number of participants was lower as planned due to a large event that was held at the same time in Fuengirola where “Saapas” was on call. When starting the activities of the Costa del Sol Saapasgroup it became clear that the group has to make contacts with the volunteers and instructors responsible for the Finnish Saapas groups. As several Finnish Saapas groups are doing trips to Spain, Costa del Sol this coming year, 2016, for consultation and getting to know Saapas groups work in Spain. This to happen, it was necessary that Spain's applicants and members on Costa del Sols Saapas group could come to Finland to participate in the Days of the Saapas volunteers and local Saapas Activities. The group got an experience that Aurinkorannikon Saapas is the part of the whole organization. They gained skills and knowledge about security and safety, and the got a practical experience about streetwork among young people in streetpatrols, and they participated in the nightcafe -Saapas. Also they learned how to support and take care about their volunteerworkers.
