Gymnasium Schloss Wittgenstein is located in a rather weakly structured area between Cologne and Frankfurt. Surrounded by a wonderful landscape, the school needs to establish itself with a special feature to compete with the other High Schools. Big companies in the area include EJOT (a global player in fastening industries) and GEA Food Solutions, a global player in Food Processing. Those companies need flexible and mobile employees.Headmaster and funding commitee decided to develop a new offer for the pupils: Bilingual Teaching of the subjects Politics and Biology. The colleagues who teach these subjects are highly motivated to develop a syllabus for that need. They were decided on on the basis of their subjects, motivation, language abilities, organisational needs and availability. Taking part in CLIL will be a great support for the teachers to develop a new skill and to make it possible for the pupils to make the experience that the subjects of Politics and Biology are not just a matter of school interest, but of European interest. The language in which the subjects are taught will enable them to learn new words and understand connections they might have not noticed before. Bilingual Learning and Teaching will enrich our school life and make it more interesting for our pupils. The project will be accompanied and prepared by the school staff and Headmaster, as well as the commitee via e-mail-exchange, meetings, postings on the school website and any other supportive action necessary.
