Art-Attack - künstlerische Formen zur Förderung gesellschaftlicher Partizipation

ArtAttack is an intense training programm for professionals in youth work . The project duration is from 01.08. to 30.11.2014 , the duration of the core event is 15 days.
The project is organized by re: active, an association for the promotion of self-organized art and culture, knowledge transfer and youth participation, based in Vienna. Project partners are: Lithuanian Gay League (LGL) from Lituania, Culture of Tolerance Foundation from Poland/Krakau, Radio Unerhört Marburg e.V from Marburg, Germany, Fundacja na Rzecz Wspierania Kultur Alternatywnych i Ekologicznych (FnRWKAiE - Stiftung zur Unterstützung von Alternativen und ökologischen Kulturen) Poland/Wolimierz and bottom@up, an informal group from Austria/Innsbruck.
ArtAttack promotes the skills of professionals in youth work at the interface of sociopolitical engagement and artistic expression. The focus is on emancipatory, participatory and self-organized formats.
ArtAttack contributes to the promotion of social participation of young people, the capacity for self-reflection and self-empowerment of young people, to broaden their possibilities of expressing their attitudes and needs in creative ways. The project days aim to increase the quality of youth work in a broader sense. 50 participants from 4 countries who are active in youth work are expected to take part in ArtAttack. The age limit for participation is 16. The intention to support young people as actors in youth work is key. ArtAttack allows for a transnational and transcultural exchange about the theoretical background of participatory and emancipatory youth work, as well as awareness raising to common discrimination patterns and their reduction, the methods of expressing socio-political concerns and needs in creative and artistic ways, strategies to encourage young people to realize their ideas independently.
Participants of ArtAttack also expand their knowledge spectrum of creative techniques and craft skills which could be used in youth work.
ArtAttack also serves to consolidate and extend a network of professionals in youth work, this network allows transnational exchanges and cooperations. Thus, the project is generally the extension of transcultural skills in youth work . One focus of ArtAttack is to secure the return of the project results in the work of the respective project partners and to ensure an active multiplication activity of the participants in the follow-up for increased sustainability of the project.
ArtAttack mainly uses a variety of methods, such as workshops, moderated group discussions, peer groups, world café and guided workshops, where either participants or external speakers take the lead. In addition, a public event will take place, there will be enough room for an open space, a joint feedback session and finally the evaluation.
Accreditation is granted by Youth Pass, which is used together with different feedback sheets to evaluate the project. The documentation and publication of the project will be published on the website of re:active and the websites of project partners.
The venue of ArtAttack is the terrain of the cooperation partner LAMES - Sonnenpark, a cultural association in St. Pölten, Lower Austria.
During the main event, trained teams will take care of special needs, infrastructure and equipment, workflow and scheduling, conflict prevention and mediation, child care, accommodation and meals.
